‘The Mountain’ From ‘Game Of Thrones’ Sets Yet Another Amazing Strongman Record

Mountain

You might know him as Hafthór Björnsson. You might know him as his character Gregor Clegane on HBO’s Game of Thrones. But you probably know him best as The Mountain, the extremely fitting nickname for his character in the cable fantasy series.

Bjornsson, in addition to playing an extremely terrifying large man on TV, competes in strongman contests the world over, and he’s been on a tear recently. The human giant, standing at 6’9″ and weighing in at 400 pounds raised both eyebrows and heartrates in February by shattering a 1,000 year-old Viking record, carrying a 1,400-pound log on his back for five steps.

This time around, he’s working with a much lower weight, but a much greater distance. Competing in a keg toss competition, Björnsson tossed a 33-pound keg nearly 25 feet into the air. At first blush, it sounds like a less impressive record, but considering incremental distances get geometrically more difficult as one fights gravity, it’s a sight to behold.

Take a look at the accomplishment and marvel at the man in the video below:
