
Amazon announced today that it will premiere its original hour-long series “Mad Dogs” on Jan. 22. All 10 episodes will be available exclusively to Amazon Prime subscribers in the U.S., the U.K., Germany and Austria.
A co-production of Hulu and Sony Pictures Television, “Mad Dogs” debuted its initial episode as part of Amazon’s January 2015 pilot season, and wasgreenlit to go to series in February.
A dark comedy created by Cris Cole, based on his U.K .series of the same name, “Mad Dogs” focuses on the reunion of a group of underachieving forty-something friends that devolves into a nightmare of lies, deception and murder. It stars Steve Zahn (“Dallas Buyers Club”), Billy Zane (“Titanic”), Romany Malco (“Weeds”), Michael Imperioli (“The Sopranos”) and Ben Chaplin (“World Without End”).
The series is being executive produced by Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”), Cole, Marney Hochman (“Last Resort”), Andy Harries “(Strikeback”), Suzanne Mackie (“Kinky Boots”), and Charles McDougall (“The Good Wife”).
“Mad Dogs” joins a growing slate of Amazon originals that includes the acclaimed series “Transparent,” which debuts its second season on Dec. 11. (Prime members were given an exclusive first look at the season premiere on Nov. 30.)
